My Boat: Rinker and Relaxation

|
When Ron Roe needs a little R&R, he heads straight for his new Rinker 360 Express Cruiser.
By Lianna Sisinni
Ron Roe was first introduced to boating six years ago when his daughter and son-in-law were looking for a partner to go in on a new 20-foot Four Winns. They enjoyed it together for a time, but as we all know, babies trump boats (no matter how much we love them). So after the birth of his first grandson, Roe found himself the sole owner of the boat.
Roe took to boat ownership like a fish to water. In fact, by 2009 he was already the proud owner of both a Monterey 24 and a Maxum 24. Early that year, Roe took delivery of a third boat, his first Rinker — a 260 Express Cruiser he called Roe Boat II. He was so thoroughly won over by Rinker's fit, finish and performance that just a few months later, in the fall of the same year, he decided to trade up for a bigger model.
The boat he chose was the 360 Express Cruiser, which offered him the same level of quality craftsmanship he had fallen in love with in the 260 EC, but also afforded him a much roomier floor plan for entertaining friends and, of course, his grandchildren, of which there were now three.
Roe lives with Diane, his wife of 38 years, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, but keeps the 360 EC he named Tranquility on Brandy Pond in Naples, Maine. He is the president and general manager of Northern Bus Sales, a busy commercial bus sales business, so when he and Diane want to get away from the hustle and bustle they make haste for Tranquility. Of his aptly named boat Roe says: "I am so happy and peaceful on my new Rinker 360. Just point me to the water, and I will follow the sun all day long."
The pair often chase the sun to favorite destinations around Maine like Sebago and Long Lake. The Roes also enjoy cruising with a group of friends from Dock A at Moose Landing Marina, also located in Naples. But when Roe thinks about a truly ideal day on board, it involves family. He says, "When I bring my three grandchildren cruising this summer, I will have all my favorite things right at my fingertips."
