Winterizing your water systems, air conditioner and plumbing can mean using antifreeze. Some people have reservations about using the solution for fear of it ending up in the water and potentially injuring wildlife. West Marine's Pure Oceans Marine Antifreeze helps alleviate some of that apprehension. Formulated with nontoxic, virgin propylene glycol, Pure Oceans is tasteless (so it is less appealing to animals) and contains no alcohol. While it prevents the corrosion of aluminum, copper, brass and solder, it will not damage rubber, seals or hoses. Pure Oceans is available in three varieties, providing burst protection to temperatures of negative 50, 60 and 100 degrees. $5 to $10. westmarine.com
